BlueBlanket

While looking for a blanket pattern i found the garter rib blanket by Orange Flower. - simple and beautiful... This was pretty much what I had in mind, only with a bit more detail... so this design features the garter rib pattern by Orange Flower and in addition a seed stitch border as well as a cable pattern on each side. - it's easy to memorize and perfect if one likes knitting while watching a movie...




Size - 55cm (22in) x 75cm (29.5in) after blocking
Needle - 3.25mm (US3) & cable needle
Gauge - 25sts = 10cm (4in) - gauge isn't super crucial so...
Yarn - 5 1/2 skeins (275gramm), sport 5ply - Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino

Cast on 133sts.
Border - seed stitch
Row 1-7: *K1, P1* repeat to last stitch, K1.
Place markers after stitch 5, 20, 113 & 128.

Body (see diagrams)
Row1(RS):
knit A, B, C (K all 93sts to next marker ), B, A.
Row 2 (WS):
knit A,B, C (*K3,P3*- repeat *-* 14times, K3), B, A.
repeat these two rows another 3times.

Row 9 (RS) : knit A, B (cable crossing), C , B (cable crossing), A
Row 10 (WS): as Row 2
Repeat all 10 rows 28times in total.

Finally knit row 1-8 before adding the border.

Border - seed stitch
Row 1-6: *K1, P1* repeat to last stitch, K1.
end on RS and bind off.

B (cable pattern - 15sts)
RS (row 1,3,5,7): K1B, P2, K4, P1, K4, P2, K1B
RS (row 9): K1B, P2,C4F, P1, C4B, P2, K1B
WS: P1, K2, P4, K1, P4, K2, P1

C (garter rib - 93sts)
RS: K all sts.
WS: *K3, P3* repeat *-* 14 times, K3

K - knit
P - purl
K1B - knit 1 in stitch below
C4F - move 2sts on cable needle & hold in front, K2, K2 from cable needle
C4B - move 2sts on cable needle & hold in back, K2, K2 from cable needle
RS - right side
WS - wrong side

I started teaching myself how to knit back in early May and decided to cast on to this blanket last night! I've gotten as far as the border and the first 10 rows and it is coming along nicely. Your directions are awesome - soo nice and clear! Thank you for sharing this pattern!
