Since my mums old hot water bottle went walkabout i got her a replacement for her birthday.
I got the bottle and yarn, but when it came down to find a pattern i simply wasn't sure if all my components would come together to fit nicely. so i took measurements, knit a gauge test and came up with my own pattern. over all pretty classic and a tiny bit lazy, as there aren't any seams to close ...
The pattern...
Knit in the round on a circular needle.
Yarn - 1 skein (100gr)- Full o'Sheep by Stitch Nation (Aran, 10ply)
Needle - 5 mm / 8Us
Gauge - 18sts/26rows =10cm/4in in stocking stitch
Cast on
Use the "magic" method to cast on 24sts on each needle (total 48sts)...
Base
1st row - knit all
2nd row - *K1, M1R, knit to last st, M1L, K1*, turn and repeat *-* once more (makes 52sts)
repeat last row, another 6times - makes 38sts for each side - 76sts in total.
slip in the bottle and see if it fits. if it's to small, just knit another increasing row.
Body
knit in rounds, until piece measures 26cm / 10inches from cast on edge.- or until shoulders start.
Shoulders
1 -10 row - *K1, SSK, knit until 3sts left, K2tog, K1*, turn and repeat *-*.
... 36sts left on needle.
Collar
knit in rib *K2, P2*, until collar measures 17cm/6.5in
bind off.
embroider a little heart, put on the kettle, sew in ends & "Bravo! done..." ... now enjoy.
