my first published pattern... usually my patterns don't escape, so it's fun to have it out there... feel free to use the comment box if any questions.
in case you prefer to download a pdf - here you go - google docs has some hickups ... but it works... just keep trying... - the pdf also comes a bit more detailed and with more pictures...

Needles
- set of double pointed needles size 2.75mm (US 2) and 3 mm (US 3)
- crochet hook size 2.5
- cable needle
Gauge - 15 sts and 19 rows to 5cm (2 inches) measured over stocking stitches on 2.75mm (US 2) needles.
____________________________________
Let’s knit.
Cast on 52 sts on needle size 2.75mm (US 2).
The left over loose end of the yarn should measure about 2.5m (100inches) so one can use it later on for the crochet edging. - simply roll it up to a little ball, so it’s out of the way.
Distribute sts on three needles - 16sts, 22sts, 14sts - and close to round.
On the 1st and 3rd needle knit rib on the middle one, knit pattern (D1).

Row 1-8 : *P2, K2* 4times ,knit D1, *K2,P2* 3times, K2

Repeat these 8rows another 4times. - 40rows in total.
Change to needle size 3mm (US3) and knit Row 1-8 another three times. - 64rows in total.

Knit Row 1-5 and bind off loosly.

Take last st onto the crochet hook and continue with the crochet edging.
...................................................
almost there...

Edging on cast off row - picot pattern -
RS facing and with one st on the crochet hook, crochet 1 round of picots -
*3ch, sl st into the first ch, sl st into the over next st of the knitted edge*.
Repeat 26times. Cast off and weave in end.

Edging on cast on edge - double crochet sts -
RS facing, use the long left over thread from the beginning and work 1 round of dc around the knitted edge. Cast off. Weave in end.

Knit a 2nd one. ... Have a coffee, some chocolate and admire your work : )

Crochet Abbreviations
- ch = chain stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
- dc = double crochet

This is a beautiful pattern! I can't wait to do it. Actually, I'm in the yarn area (room??) picking out possibilites, as I never finish all projects before I start others. Like dating a new boyfriend...very exciting.

I might put in a thumb latching part on my knitted up pattern, but I'm thinking for me..some glamorous arm warmers.
